Well, once I got the new stud to replace the one I messed up before I got busy installing it. Unfortunately, in my hurry and carelessness I misread the torque specs for the stud bolts. Using ft/lbs instead of in/lbs equals stripped threads in the engine case! After running out of curse words, I decided to scratch my head and figure out a way to fix it. Figured I could install a Helicoil easy enough. Just have to drill out the hole and re-tap to the next larger size. Shouldn’t be hard…
And it wasn’t. With the exception that I didn’t get the hole straight. So, the stud is angled. MANY more curse words (made up a few!). I’m quickly running out of options…things aren’t looking good.
